Sandon Local History & Times Past
Although the next meeting will be only the third such gathering of those interested in aspects of Sandon’s history, it is hoped that even more will come along to hear about what progress is being made, what is hoped to be achieved and, any other aims that may arise from our discussions. It’s free, so do come along and if you have memories and/or photos of your house bring those with you to help complete the picture.
A study is being undertaken of all the many Public and Ale Houses of Sandon that quenched the people’s thirsty habits and will prove most interesting when complete in terms of knowing the places you might have been able to enjoy an evening at … had they still existed. Also we’ll learn about the progress on updating the Sandon 2000 ‘A Book for the Millennium’. What was said about your house some 17 years ago?
Intriguing information has been offered by a number of local folk and these lines will be followed up on, but in the meantime, where would you to in Sandon for a nice cup of tea or may be recommend a place to a friend seeking Bed & Breakfast?
This picture is of the railway carriage (possibly called ‘Roydon’ where (as can be seen), both teasingly tasty teas might be enjoyed and/or one could stay for a comfortable B&B. But who were the people running this establishment, when was it and whereabouts was it in the village? Find the answers at the next meeting when refreshment will be served.
Saturday 9th April from 4:30 – 6:30 in the Village Hall
